Plot:
A lot of things have changed in five years, and now most Vikings on Berk island have their own dragon. The kids in particular, the old “gang” we met in the first movie, now even do dragon races! Hiccup – always different from the rest and an explorer by nature – with his Night Wrath dragon called Toothless, are trying to expand the limits of their known world by mapping more distant locations.

On one of the exploring trips they discover at the Northern Frozen Ocean a hiding place, a secret cave-sanctuary for hundreds of wild dragons. Among them there is a Dragon Rider, Valka, who can communicate with them, takes care of them, love them, protect them. From what? From Eret’s traps, who is catching dragons to sell them. But so many dragons, who would want to buy them? There is one such man called Drago Bludvist and he is a realy, realy bad person. Drago is the villain of the movie. He wants to subjugate all dragons and create an invisible dragon army. And as you can guess our heroes will have to face him.

httyd2 How To Train Your Dragon 2Hiccup and his friends are not alone in this struggle. They found an ally in Valca, the dragon protector, who is actually Hiccup’s mother! How could that be possible? When Hiccup was a baby, his mother was kidnapped by dragons during a raid. Everyone believed she was forever gone. But Valka survived, and she found out that dragons are not ferocious animals that must be subjugated, but intelligent beings with needs and emotions. Thus she loved dragons and decided to live with them and protect them from any evil.

Our impressions and movie review:
How To Train Your Dragon 2If you liked the movie “How to Train your Dragon”, then you will truly love the sequel! This movie has everything. It is packed with action, funny moments and has many more ideas and elements taken from the books written by Cressida Cowell. And how about the dragons? This movie features countless dragon parading on the big screen, in all sizes and colors, and our familiar dragons from the first movie have learned new tricks. Enchanting scenery, ice and sea, sky and forests, the beauty and the contrasts in that imaginary world will leave you speechless. Dean DeBlois as a story writer is not simply inventive. His script is flawless! It is finely crafted and he has picked one by one the elements and the messages he wants to show. “How to Train Your Dragon 2” is a movie with touching, romantic, dynamic, delectable moments, and of course there is a lot of fun, impressive shots, tension and above all this movie has well worked unique, lovable or not, characters and through them and their confrontation, very intense emotions are born, and the spectator feels inside him that this movie is really worth to see it and see it again.

A Masterpiece!

Movie Quote from How to train your dragon II

Hiccup: This is Berk. Life here is amazing. Dragons used to be a bit of a problem. But now they’ve all moved in.

Movie Quote from How to train your dragon II

Hiccup: Afternoon, milady. Where have you been?
Astrid: Oh, winning races. What else? Where have you been?
Hiccup: Avoiding my dad.
Astrid: Oh no. What happened now?
Hiccup: Oh, you’re gonna-you’re gonna love this. I wake up, the sun is shining, Terrible Terrors are singing on the rooftop. I saunter down to breakfast thinking all is right with the world and I get, [imitates Stoick’s voice] “Son, we need to talk.”
Astrid: [imitates Hiccup’s voice] “Not now, Dad! I got a whole day of goofing off to get started!”
Hiccup: [laughs] What? Okay, first of all, I-I don’t sound like that! Who-what is this character? And-and second, what is that thing you’re doing with my shoulders? Yeah, that’s a truly flattering impersonation. [Astrid laughs] Anyway, he goes, [imitates Stoick] “You’re the pride of Berk, son. And I couldn’t be prouder.”
Astrid: [imitates Hiccup] “Aw thanks, Dad! I’m pretty impressed with myself, too!”
Hiccup: [laughs] When-when have I ever done that with my hands?
Astrid: You just did! [laughs]
Hiccup: [exasperatedly but lightheartedly] Ah, okay! Just… [grips Astrid’s arms] Just hold still! [holds her hands] Very serious. [imitates Stoick] “You’re all grown up. And since no chief could ask for a better successor, I’ve decided-”
Astrid: [interrupts] To make you chief! Oh my gods! What an honor! I’d be pretty excited.
Hiccup: [sighs] I… I’m not like you. You… know exactly who you are. You always have.
[Hiccup sits down and gazes off into space. Astrid sits down beside him and starts braiding his hair]
Astrid: What you’re searching for isn’t out there, Hiccup. It’s in here. [puts a hand over Hiccup’s heart]

Movie Quote from How to train your dragon II

Stoick the Vast: A man who kills without reason cannot be reasoned with.

Movie Quote from How to train your dragon II

Drago Bludvist: The Dragons are mine now!

Movie Quote from How to train your dragon II

Hiccup: I’m sorry, Dad. I’m not the chief that you wanted me to be and I’m not the peacekeeper I thought I was. I… don’t know…
Valka: You came early into this world. You were such a wee thing. So frail and so fragile. I feared that you wouldn’t make it. But your father, he never doubted. He always said you would become the strongest of them all. And he was right. You have the heart of a chief and the soul of a dragon. Only you can bring our worlds together. That is who you are, son.
Hiccup: I uh… I was so afraid of becoming my dad. Mostly because I thought I never could. How do you become someone that great, that brave, that selfless? I guess you can only try. A chief protects his own. We’re going back!
